Earthprint collection: a new take on the way I create.

During the last year, a lot of thoughts and feelings, regarding how I present myself to the world and what I choose to transmute, have been stirred up.

The focus of my work, for many years, have been on making production line jewelry that can be easily reproduced.

After all, wholesale sales have been paying my bills and I stayed in my comfort zone, doing what I knew best.

But, since last summer, the need to create something, that speaks to my heart, has been intensified and reached a point I cannot ignore anymore.

So, the “Earthprint” collection is the significator of an entirely new path: making one-of-a-kind and small batch jewels,

that contain an intention and a message to the wearer, embracing randomness in the process of creation and are sustainably made with utmost respect to the environment and our planet.

Every summer I collect a specific type of pebbles

and last summer I was looking for the ones with holes.

They are called 'hag stones' and they were believed

to have magical properties. I made an experiment and

used these pebbles to imprint molten recycled silver and bronze.

It made me realize that, by allowing randomness to have some control

over the making process, I can unlock a reservoir of untapped creativity.

And this experiment led to a mini collection with

one-of-a-kind pieces that embody the element of earth and its qualities.

Ioanna
